After Day 1 of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, Akshay Bhatia topped the leaderboard with an impressive 8-under-par 64. The 22-year-old, who is aiming for his third PGA Tour victory in less than a year, had a flawless round and finished strongly as he birdied the 16th, chipped in for an eagle on the 17th, and capped it with a 7-foot birdie putt on the 18th. That gave him a one-stroke lead over Taylor Montgomery and Michael Kim, who each shot 65.
