Ahead of the new Major League Soccer season in 2024, one of the clubs still looking for a head coach is DC United. Names like Bruce Arena and Domènec Torrent have been linked with the job, and now Hugo Pérez is in the running. The coach who was in charge of the El Salvador national team is one of the alternatives for the capital side.

With La Selecta experiencing yet another setback in their attempt to find the ideal project under Rubén de la Barrera following Pérez’s departure, it is now the 60-year-old who could be close to moving to the North American top flight as the man in charge of guiding the club back to the prominence they desire.

As reported by Tom Bogert of The Athletic, Pérez was interviewed with the prospect of taking the reins of the four-time MLS Cup and three-time US Open Cup champions, although Jaime Ojeda has reported that the favorite for the job is Bruce Arena.
