Week Fourteen. The Betway Premier League Darts heads north to Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena. A city that has been leading the world in getting people from one side of a river to the other since 1848, with no less than seven bridges straddling the Tyne. Home of the Toon Army, a one club city that boasts some of the country’s most passionate football fans. Does this city also love the darts? Why Aye man!

Last Time Out

Only four games took place in Newcastle last year, but they were four of the most thrilling of the season. Phil Taylor drew with Peter Wright and Gary Anderson defeated Dave Chisnall to ensure that the fight for the playoffs went down to the final night in Brighton.

The contest between Adrian Lewis and Robert Thornton may have been a dead rubber, but the two still gave the fans a great match to cheer. Jackpot picked up his first win in nine and cemented a sixth place finish with a 7-5 win.

Meanwhile, Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld, already assured of their spots at London’s O2, battled it out for top spot. Barney produced some superb early darts, including an 11-dart leg, as he established a 3-1 cushion. But the World Number 1 came back fighting, averaging 105 and taking out 132 on the bull to complete a 7-4 victory.
