B2B service provider Oddsgate has set in motion its latest expansion plans by obtaining certification from the National Gambling Office (ONJN) to operate in the Romanian market.

Oddsgate’s entry into Romania follows a long-standing interest in the nation, as the company also specifies that the capital city of Bucharest has been identified as a possible location for a new company office.

Now, the first step toward entering the market has been taken, as the company looks to tap into the burgeoning market’s potential.

Óscar Madureira, who is responsible for legal and compliance at Oddgate, commented on the development, saying: “Although Oddsgate is a B2B service provider and, therefore, does not have a direct relationship with players and bettors, the protection of user data on platforms operated by our clients and the promoting of responsible gaming among them are key priorities for the company.

“We recognise the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of users of our platforms, while actively seeking to promote a positive and healthy gaming experience.”

With headquarters in Lisbon, Oddsgate also has ongoing operations in Brazil, India and South Africa – it will be hoping that this new license allows it to further expand its presence within the EU market.

In 2017, Romania’s ONJN awarded EveryMatrix a Class II licence.

More recently, 3 Oaks Gaming also announced expansion plans for the Romanian market, establishing the nation as a strategic hub for its Eastern European operations.
