The 2024 Women’s PGA Championship has set a new benchmark in women’s golf by offering a record-breaking prize of $1.56 million to the winner. This significant boost in prize money is part of the championship’s total purse of $10.4 million, making it one of the most lucrative events in women’s sports, second only to the U.S. Women’s Open.
This substantial increase in prize money highlights the growing recognition and investment in women’s golf. The championship, organized by KPMG and the PGA of America, has consistently raised its stakes over the years. In 2014, the total purse was $2.25 million, with the winner taking home $337,500. Fast forward to 2022, the purse had already quadrupled to $9 million, with the winner’s share being $1.35 million
